HIGUAIN ON HIS WAY?

Real Madrid are likely to be without Gonzalo Higuain at the start of the new season after it was revealed by the club’s general manager, Jose Angel Sanchez, that the striker will be sold in the summer. Higuain has grown frustrated due to lack of regular first-team opportunities at Real Madrid, as manager José Mourinho has not often than not opted for French striker Karim Benzema. Despite this, Higuain has scored 14 goals for the club in all competitions this season. The striker has been linked with a move to Juventus and Arsenal in the last few months.

Any departure for Higuain could mean that Real Madrid could be in the market for a striker in order to fill his vacant spot. They have reportedly identified Manchester United hitman Javier Hernandez as a replacement. The Mexican striker has also been frustrated with life at Old Trafford in recent seasons after being primarily used as a substitute by manager Sir Alex Ferguson to introduce impact in the matches. Despite this, he has contributed heavily to the team by scoring 16 goals this season. Even though Ferguson said recently that there was no way Hernandez could be sold, it is believed that United may be willing to listen to offers for the player.

“In a great club like Real, we believe we need two number nines of a high level. We have Benzema and Higuain. Higuain will leave, Benzema will stay and two others will come,” said Sanchez. United are looking to bring in Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, who is one of the deadliest in the world right now. He is expected to cost around £ 45 million, and United cannot raise that money without selling one of their players like Hernandez. The Mexican could fetch around £ 20 million in the market now.

MORE TROPHIES

The Mexican striker Javier Hernandez has revealed that wants to help Manchester United win more trophies and he is adopting a selfless attitude in the hunt to do the same. The 23-year-old has found only limited first-team opportunities with the club this season. This has been largely due to the impressive form shown by the new summer signing Robin van Persie, who has been able to plunder 22 goals in all competitions for the club. These goals have been extremely important for United in their attempts to win the 20th Premier league title. Hernandez, though, has been marginally used in the Premier league by the manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

However, he is expected to start in the upcoming FA Cup replay match against West Ham at Old Trafford. United were able to force the match into a replay following a late goal from Robin van Persie, but the Dutchman is likely to be rested for this encounter. This is due to the presence of quality strikers in the form of Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck waiting in the wings. Hernandez has said that confident that United can win some trophies this season after having an imperious first half of the season. The striker has scored eight goals in 13 appearances for United this season.

“I’m not saying I’m the perfect player. I am always looking to improve my game, whether that’s my play outside the box or also inside it. I still think there is work for me to do. But the reason I want to improve is so that I can help the team. It’s not just that I want to score more goals. It’s a group sport and so I want to do what I can to help the team get the right results every week,” said Hernandez.

IS HERNANDEZ HAPPY?

Reports coming out of the Manchester United camp appear to suggest that the Mexican striker Javier Hernandez is currently extremely unhappy at the club due to his substitute role this season. The 24-year-old striker was an instant hit at Old Trafford when he arrived at the club the season before last. However, the rise of Danny Welbeck forced him to watch most of the matches from the bench last season. He was expected to be part of the first team on a regular basis this time around, but the arrival of Robin van Persie for £ 24 million has once again inhibited his first-team opportunities.

He has been relegated to the role of being the super sub in recent weeks. Despite scoring a lot of goals this season, the Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has not started with him. He has already scored nine goals in just 17 matches this season, which is only a handful less than the top scorer at the club – Robin van Persie. As a result, he is thought to be pondering his future at Old Trafford. Hernandez will have no shortage of interested clubs due to his goalscoring abilities. It is widely thought that the Spanish club Atletico Madrid have shown the greatest interest in the player due to the fact that they see him as an ideal replacement for the Colombian striker Radamel Falcao.

The 26-year-old Colombian has been linked with a move in the January transfer window. Even if he does not move in January, a summer move is imminent with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester city interested. Hernandez is also extremely open to the possibility of playing in sunny Spain. The Mexican striker cost the Premier league club £ 7 million 2 years ago and they would expect to double their investment.
